NCBD: New Project! New Samples!
Here's a snap of the final version of a page shared last week on Instagram. Below, you'll notice I have rough placeholders for the balloons and a general blocking in of the figures and shadows. From there I tighten up the drawing with a nib tool and erase stray lines or strokes. I think the analogy to sculpture applies here. The rough version below is like the crude clay shape that roughly blocks in the forms. By carving into this mess of lines and shadows, I can pull features, hands, faces and…suppurating disfigurements!? Oops! That's for later pages!
